Mataura Masjid / Islamic Centre - Gore
Introduction
Assalamu alaikum WrWb. Over the past decade and beyond, FIANZ has spent millions of dollars towards construction and purchase of new Masajids and Islamic Centres throughout all parts of New Zealand. Some of the recent examples are Taihape (Yes!), Taupo, New Plymouth, Tauranga, Upper Hutt, Feilding, Ashburton, Whangarei, Linwood – just to name a few. These contributions from FIANZ would not be possible without the tremendous ongoing support from the Muslim community.
Now, with Muslims living in every corner of New Zealand, FIANZ wishes to provide ALL MUSLIMS an OPPORTUNITY to make a contribution to new Masjid and New Islamic Centre projects in different parts of New Zealand. Project Background
Recently a Church belonging to Anglican Church came on the market for sale. It was on the basis of auction and Alhamdulillah we were successful in purchasing it on 19 April 2018. The Church is in the prime location of the town - on the main state high way (SH1) and a corner plot. The address is 127 Main Street, Mataura, Gore, New Zealand.
This Masjid will be very helpful to our community and will also be helpful for the travelers who travel between Dunedin to Invercargill or Queenstown to Invercargill and vice-versa. The building comprises of two separate sets of buildings, one is the main Church building and the other is a hall for gathering.
We are hoping to start five-time daily prayers, Friday prayers, Taraweeh, Eid prayers, and children Quranic classes in this place from the 1st of Ramadan 1439. InShaAllah!
